May Dragon

I can not believe it’s been two months since I’ve blogged!  I must admit that my creative juices ran completely dry.  Just like a clearance-priced dried-out loaf of bread at the store , I was ready to crumble.  But I’m happy to report that I am feeling more creative these days.  I’m sure that all the

Jaxx Steakhouse

Recently I had the pleasure of joining the Press Club 0f North Texas for dinner at Jaxx.  The company was lively and memorable.  However, the real treat was what was on the menu!

The Island Spot

One of my favorite islands to visit in the Caribbean is Jamaica.  I love everything about it – its natural beauty, the people, and of course the food!  I’m all about small dives and street food.  Knowing how near and dear to my heart Caribbean food is, I have to wonder if  The Island Spot is a

Kenny’s Italian Kitchen

I love sequels: Toy Story, the Indiana Jones movies, the early Star Wars movies, etc.  As you can see from my previous post, I really love Kenny’s Woodfire Grill.  But how will Kenny’s Italian Kitchen measure up?  Will it be great or will it fizzle like Transformers 2, 3 and all the Back to the Future sequels???

Taste: the Competition

TasteTheCompetitionTo kick off Taste Addison this year, restaurants were invited to participate in Taste: the Competition on May 1st. The challenge was for them to create a unique “street food” – something that you could easily carry around a carnival or fair. The rules were simple and 15 restaurants answered the call. I had a chance to help judge the event yesterday. It was great to see and taste what the restaurants came up with. This year they are not required to serve the dish at their restaurant or Taste Addison booth, so you may or may not see them.

Tasty Run: May 18

TastyRun

One of the newest additions to Taste Addison this year is the Tasty Run. It happens Saturday, May 18th at Addison Circle Park. The name ‘Tasty Run’ sounds like what would happen if I dangle a cheesesteak on a string in front of me while I’m on the treadmill, but that’s not what it is.

Taste Addison is back. It’s where food and entertainment come together and make foodertainment! Taste Addison features menu samples from over 60 restaurants and live performances by Blue October, Reckless Kelly, and Turnpike Troubadours to name a few. Come out and enjoy cooking demos, wine tasting seminars, carnival rides, midway games, and more. There’s even a Blazin’ Challenge by Buffalo Wild Wings – 12 wings in 6 minutes or less - no dips, beverages, etc. Mango Habanero is the hottest I can go so I’ll have to work up to the Blazin’. So, if your taste buds and bowels can handle it – definitely check it out. For a full list of activities click here.
