Kenny’s Italian Kitchen

Kenny’s Italian Kitchen

I love sequels: Toy Story, the Indiana Jones movies, the early Star Wars movies, etc.  As you can see from my previous post, I really love Kenny’s Woodfire Grill.  But how will Kenny’s Italian Kitchen measure up?  Will it be great or will it fizzle like Transformers 2, 3 and all the Back to the Future sequels???

Kenny’s serves Italian food that is reminiscent of the Little Italy areas of Boston and New York. Now, on to the food.  The first thing I noticed about the spaghetti was the baseball size meatballs.  They are herby, moist, and will melt in your mouth!  The sauce tastes like the tomatoes were just picked.  It’s good, but not my favorite style.  No, I’m not a fan of the canned variety, but I like my sauce heavy on the spices.

The gnocchi is blanketed with a smooth, creamy Vodka sauce.   It’s definitely comfort food with its fluffy, pillowy carbs and velvety, fresh sauce.  You can also order it with the Gorgonzola cream sauce.  It will kick your love of lactose into overdrive with its smoked bacon and toasted walnuts.  It’s extremely cheesy and rich!

Lastly, try the bread pudding.  Your gut will tell you to get the Tiramisu because you’re at an Italian restaurant.  Although it is delicious in its own right, fight the urge.  Their bread pudding is over the top.  It’s hot, decadent, chocolatey  and bathed in a generous liquor-infused white sauce.  I am moved to create a Facebook page for it.

Although dining is casual, reservations are strongly recommended.  Service is great too.  They take care of you by adding a personal touch.

Kenny’s is a little pricey, so try them at lunch or take advantage of their large dinner portions and share.  They have Sunday Meatball Madness ($1 meatballs) and Wine Down Wednesdays where the 1st glass is free for the ladies.  Speaking of alcohol, try their Italian margarita - it’s soooo good!  Follow them on Twitter to hear about specials.  Mangia! Mangia!
