Gourdough’s: Big.Fat.Donuts

Gourdough’s: Big.Fat.Donuts

At the end of my recent visit to Austin I wanted donuts. The Homer in me could not be silenced, so I did a Google search and found Gourdough’s. All the positive press and praise from locals was all I needed. Not to mention the fact that the pictures on their website made me slowly inch toward my screen in a failed attempt to try and taste these behemoth beauties.

Gourdough’s is a food truck that sells fresh, made to order, huge donuts in 23 unique flavors like Flying Pig (bacon with maple syrup icing) and Mother Clucker (fried chicken strip with honey butter). You can also build your own - the possibilities are endless. I tried Amy’s Joy (coconut and chocolate icing) and The Puddin’ (cream filled, cream cheese icing, bananas & vanilla wafers).  I liked The Puddin’ best – Amy’s Joy was just too sweet. Overall both were very good - so rich and indulgent! Warm and soft on the inside; slightly crisp on the outside. Mmmmm…glad they are not in Dallas because I would be become gorda.

With so many tantalizing flavors it’s hard to choose, so take a friend and share. Donuts cost about $5 each and will keep you full until your next meal! For more information visit http://www.gourdoughs.com/
